Charles Chapman mansion at 110 North Cypress was destroyed by arsonists. Street was soon to be renamed State College.

On August 18, 1960, the once stately Charles Chapman mansion at 110 North Cypress was destroyed by arsonists. Completed in 1903, the three-story house was the largest dwelling in Orange County when it was built. At the time of the fire, a new development, Chapman Park Homes, was under construction at the orginal ranch site
