Dr. Freeman, 73, passed away August 19, 2008 at his home in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.
Julian was born to Roy and Mary Nellie Freeman on July 17, 1935 in LaGrange, GA. He received his bachelor's degree from Auburn University in 1957 and later earned his M.D. from the University of Alabama Medical College in 1961. He completed his residency and post-graduate training in General Surgery from 1962-1966 at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. From there he enlisted in the United States Army and served as the Chief of Surgery in the 18th Surgical Hospital in Vietnam.
After his service to his country, he joined the Roberts, Sigler, and Freeman General Surgery Medical Group, Inc. from 1968-1994 in Fullerton, CA. Julian was a member of the Fellow American College of Surgeons. He also served as the Chief of Staff at St. Jude Medical Center and the President of Orange County Medical Association in Fullerton, CA, along with being a delegate to the American Medical Association and a member of the Board of Trustees St. Jude Medical Center.
Julian is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Marjorie Freeman; sons, F. Julian, Jr. and Robert Nathan; daughters, Cynthia Freeman; sister, Lemma Gross and seven grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 26 at Loma Vista Memorial Park, Fullerton, CA. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Mayo Clinic Alzheimer's Research Program, Jacksonville, FL.
