I have something to say
I can’t wait any longer .

We are America, all of us. We are America more than the valleys, the plains, the mountains, the lakes, the rivers and forests and the shores.

Not one single American is unimportant. Not one American is not precious.

Every day I see more enmity and division between Americans. I see it between us, too.  The hatred and disrespect seem to be growing, too.

Recently I lost one of my best SHHS friends. We’ve been close friends since 2001. Not a girlfriend or a lover. A friend. She and I disagreed about politics. We didn’t argue, or taunt each other, or call each other names. We just disagreed. Now I’ve lost her friendship. That hurts a lot, and brings everything into painful clarity.

Giving up one each other is  the single worst thing we can possibly do together.

We have problems as a nation, as all nations have problems.

I believe the most dangerous, destructive problem is the way we turn against each other.

I also believe that’s the only thing that can bring us down as a nation.

I can't  preach to you or advise you, friends. I’m not qualified.

We can all talk about politics, issues, approaches we have, and what we object to. This is not the place for those discussions.

I can only ask one thing of you, folks. Please come to this page sometimes and pray for our country, and pray for all of us.

Please come here sometimes and think about all we have as Americans, and what we've always enjoyed.

Please come here and think about the beauty of our country, the beauty of our people, and what we can have in store for the future.

You don’t necessarily have to pray, of course. But please consider these matters, and take hope from them.

I believe in America, I believe in human beings, and I believe in all of you.

Thank you. -- Paul Saevig, ’67. 72849Paul@gmail.com
