Mrs. Virginia Croffoot, 1922-2013

 

Virginia J. Croffoot born on October 27, 1922 to long-time Whittier residents, Samuel and Mazie Jackson, passed away on August 12, 2013 in Laguna Woods, CA at the age of 90. 

 

She graduated from Whittier High School in 1940. While growing up, she joined other family members in working at Western Printing Company, her father's business. Virginia lived in Whittier until 1957, at which time she moved to Fullerton. 

 

Although she lived in Fullerton, she worked in Whittier until her retirement in 1970. Virginia is survived by her daughter, Karen Croffoot Herbst [’64] ; her grandson, Brian Herbst; her granddaughters, Jennifer Herbst and Dawna Ransom; her grandson-in-law, Shawn Ransom; and her two great-grandsons, Tucker Ransom and Colby Ransom. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, George Fred "Fritz" Croffoot; her son, Steven Croffoot; and her son-in-law, William "Bill" Herbst. 

 

Virginia loved to travel, whether it be by cruise ship, plane, car, or in the family's large motorhome. She was a longtime member of The Ebell Club of Fullerton. Virginia valued the time she spent to support her Whittier and Fullerton communities. Virginia, always the most gracious of ladies, was loved by many and will be greatly missed. 

 

Services for Virginia will be held at Rose Hills on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 11 am. Published in Orange County Register on Aug. 17, 2013
