We affirm that Covid 19 and variants pose a severe threat to every human being and to mankind.
We have stood by as the numbers of afflicted and dead have increased again and again.
Now we are in the process of receiving vaccinations, and will need to receive more a second time, and probably more thereafter.
We admire and wholeheartedly support the scientists and others who have gained knowledge and understanding of the virus so far, and have developed initial vaccines. We are grateful.
We pledge to continue all our efforts to control the virus, and make sure everyone in the world is properly vaccinated.
Ultimately this experience of pandemic can be settled only by human will, and by our steadfast efforts to attain success. If we offer any less, we'll likely fail.
At this moment, as a community of former classmates and neighbors and as old friends, we hold a variety of positions regarding the existence or absence of a divinity; the meaning of human life, and our responsibilities to each other.
Despite our differences, we are united in our hopes for renewal of good health in those afflicted with this virus. We acknowledge those who have died, and offer our most sincere condolences to their families and friends.
We stand with courage, fortitude and hope, willing to do our part in this great effort.
