Lake Tahoe school district bids adieu to retiring teachers, staff
— Jacqueline “Jackie” Nelson has spent the past 27 years serving the district in various capacities. She graduated from UCLA in 1971 with a BS degree majoring in English with a minor in psychology. In 1974 Nelson graduated CSU Los Angeles with a MA in Education. She worked as a program specialist with El Dorado County Office of Education from 1981 to 1982. At LTUSD she worked as a program specialist, principal, staff development coordinator beginning in 1982. In 1989, she became a program director. Nelson was principal of Tahoe Valley Elementary from 1997 to 2004, and principal at South Tahoe Middle School from 2004-2007. She has been assisting the District in various special assignments since 2007."

Congrats Jackie! I too just retired on 1/4/10 after 34.5 years in the business. I think we shared this before, but I was also a Program Administrator and Principal since 1996 and was teaching Secondary/Science and other roles for 20 of those years. Feel your journey...long haul, but rewarding. I am also consulting for my old employer, OCDE, but really reeling in this new freedom...hope you feel the same. Enjoy!
