Paul was a great man and a superb physician/surgeon. In addition to all else in his long and productive life, he was
also an outstanding graduate of Waite High School in Toledo,
Ohio where he was very well known and popular. I knew Paul well as he was a very close friend. We studied together in the U.T. premedical program. Besides being a fine person and a highly skilled surgeon, he was was unusually intelligent and able.....liked and admired by all. I miss him. /G.

Dr. Mabie was a big man, 6'5". For many decades of his long career, he performed hundreds of pro bono surgeries for the poor and disadvantaged -- cleft lip and palate surgery, post-accident surgery, surgery for burn victims and more -- here and in many foreign countries. He'd never mention it unless you asked him. His legacy of one of kindness, compassion and humility.
