Eat at The Palms? The Palms was the restaurant part of Dutton's Jungle Gardens. The Jungle Gardens was a private zoo built by Jack Dutton, who also owned the Jungle Nursery in Anaheim.
As Orange County came of age with the expanding post-war boom, the Palms was a 1950s restaurant. Northrup and later Autonetics were nearby, and employees liked the Palms.

Yes, had my first Mai Tai there when I was just in the eighth grade!..........Kidding!I remember walking around the jungle out back watching the huge chimps that could take a huge truck tire and throw it like it was nothing. Had what I think they called rhumaki, and passion fruit that was heavenly. Went there quite often.

Loved the Palms! I had my first Monte Cristo sandwich there when I was about 10. Great buffet lunch also. My parents used to let us wander through the jungle. Great memories.

Yes, my parents took me once or twice in my very early days before 1955. Don’t remember anything, really.- Paul.
