Classic American food, extensive menu. Many people have steak, but you could just as easily have lamp chops, or Beef Stroganoff, or a Caesar Salad with Russian dressing and a side of green peas. One of the best bars on the West Coast, but don’t expect gimmick bight-colored drinks.

The location on the north side of Hollywood Boulevard is 2 blocks west of the Mann’s Chinese Theater. Once you reach Musso and Frank, all you have to do is park in back and walk in. I don’t think you need a reservation.

Over the years they’ve always had a contingent of actors, directors, producers, writers and other movie and TV people. Until 1960 or so, most of the major studios were within a mile, not counting MGM, Warner’s and Universal. It’s not that you go there to see movie stars, but you probably will.

Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, William Faukner and a long list of other writers came often.

You’ll spend $50 to $75 per person here, plus your tip, parking fee and tip for the valet.
