Mrs. Edythe Chapman

Chapman, Edythe Hylton. Edy, the wife of Irvin (Ernie) C. Chapman, passed away peacefully in her home in Newport Beach, California, on August 19, 2008.

She was born in Grants Pass, Oregon to Lee and Anna Hylton. Her parents moved to Riverside, California when she was two years old. She was raised and educated in Riverside. She graduated from Poly High and then from Riverside Junior College (now known as Riverside Community College).

Edy was for many years a volunteer for the American Red Cross and worked in the contagious pulmonary disease wards of the Veterans Administration Hospital in Long Beach, California. She served as a member of the Board for Town and Gown of Chapman University, among other interests at the University.

She married Ernie Chapman on February 14, 1976. Her loving husband predeceased her. They has a wonderful time traveling all over the world together.

Edy enjoyed playing tennis and she played for many years. She also enjoyed playing bridge and she loved to win!

Edy is survived by, her daughters, Cherie Harrison and son-in-law, Dan, Claire Nichols and son-in-law, Mike [SHHS '63]; three grandchildren, John Nichols and wife Christine, Jason Hull and wife, Serena, Tom Nichols and wife, Valerie; five great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Dales; nieces, Denise Dales Jacobs and husband, Paul, Cher Jacobs and husband, David, Deborah Thomas; nephew, Craig Dales, and her loving caretaker, Marta Herrera.

Edy was beloved by all and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends. McAulay & Wallace Mortuary
