I didn’t know any Hlltschers but I clearly remember going to a Fullerton City Council Meeting as a SHHS freshman. There was Herman Hiltscher himself, already an elderly gentlemanm, sitting with the other city leaders, I was impressed, and remember the exact way he sat in his chair, leaning back slightly, He rested his head on his hand, and held one hand to the side of his face, with his index finger pointing up to the side of his forehead, Frankly, he looked halfway bored to death, and he had been in all those meetings of Fullerton leaders for 50 years or more. I'd heard of Herman since I was a little bitty tyke because my dad and Sam E. and Helen Badger and Judge Thompson and Dorothy Thompson Lodge mentioned him often, 1963!

Anaheim was a German colony started in about 1850, and there were many German and German-American families, there, and also in Fullerton and nearby cities, Maybe the Hiltschers were one of them,
