Sad day. Just found out my friend of 50 years, George Vermillion, died on his boat last night. We lived on different coasts, but spoke a few times every week. His was the Bass Player in our group, from High School on. Last time I saw him was 2 years ago, and we played again at our home. It was sure a joy. George, you will be missed. RIP George Vermillion.

After 47 years of having no contact at all, George and I reconnected a little over a year ago through Paul Saevig and The Sunny Hills Spoon. I have had tons of wonderful phone calls with a sweet caring dedicated to freedom and liberty American. He was very active with Honor Flight and he invited me to come to Washington D. C. last spring to be part of the Honor Flight experience. It was the experience of a life time and made me more dedicated to doing what I can for our American veterans. I also got to see his band perform. George's passing leaves a void and he will be greatly missed. A true gentleman.

George was born on May 20, 1949.

He died on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, of Crofton, MD. Father of Mark Vermillion (Krista), Michael Vermillion (Jessica) and David Vermillion; brother of Andi Shapiro, Ron Vermillion, Ben Vermillion and the late Suzan Giuliano; grandfather of Kenneth, Dane and John Vermillion. A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Elizabeth Anne Seton Catholic Church, 1800 Seton Drive, Crofton, MD on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 10 a.m. Interment, Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD.
