Without exaggeration, we can say Hank is a legend in Orange County tennis. In 24 years, many hundreds if not a thousand or more Orange County children, teenagers and adults have visited his tennis centers in Costa Mesa and Tustin. Hank’s been on hand to teach, advise and sell racquets, balls and other equipment, and to organize and hold tournaments. His clients are largely people who don’t belong to country clubs or private tennis clubs. They enjoyed the benefit of Hank’s expertise, his outgoing friendliness, and his love for the sport, and in a casual, friendly environment. Hank’s centers were the kind of places where a busy housewife could squeeze in a set or two.
Honestly, we can’t thank Hank enough. He’s always had world-class enthusiasm, and — do I dare use the word in these times? — it’s infectious.
Congratulations, Hank!
I know your old buddy Tom McCutchen, ’67, is now watching us all from the Heavenly Sports Lounge and Grill, and would offer a cheerful, “Yeah!” and slug you affectionately on the arm!
Balgrosky? Dozier? Ashman? Althouse? Herlands? Conger? Wyatt? Boege? Not bad, eh?
