Martin John Deveney Sr ’67, 1949-2016

Martin John Deveney Sr., also known as “Marty” of Marty’s Appliance Repair in Albany, died Wednesday, June 15, at the VA Hospital in Portland. Surrounded by children, grandchildren and loved ones, Marty made the journey to Heaven peacefully.
Marty was born in Los Angeles, California, and grew up in Fullerton, California, where he graduated from Sunny Hills High School. After high school he joined the United States Army. He served in both the 25th Infantry Division and the 199th Infantry Brigade. His tour of duty in the Vietnam War was February 1968 to September 1970 during which time he earned citations and medals including the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement against hostile ground forces.
After finishing his military service he returned to his home in California where he met and married his wife of 45 years.
Marty is survived by his wife, Trecia; sons Martin J. Deveney Jr., Michael J. Deveney and wife Lanette, and Glenn W. Deveney and wife Jennifer; and nine grandchildren listed by age, Acacia, Michael, Allie, Michelle, Davina, Donovan, Brian, Ayla and Gracie.
There will be a celebration-of-life memorial service and potluck at noon July 9 at Timber Linn Memorial Park. Children are welcome. No alcohol, please.
