BERNARD DIENER OBITUARY

Diener, Bernard
Bernard (Bernie) Diener passed away peacefully at home on July 10, 2009.
He is survived by his son, Steven Diener, daughter-in-law, Catherine Diener, sister Ruth Schwartz, his nephew Arthur Schwartz, niece Suzanne Jacobson, grand nieces and nephews Joel and Aaron Schwartz, Michelle and Mireille Jacobson and his extended Diener-Weisman family, including brother-in-law Richard Weisman, daughter-in-law Ellen Morehead, her husband Jerry Nussbaum, Ellen's daughters Amy Longhi, her husband Piero, Julie Uhrman, and her partner Kelly Kirkpatrick, great-grandchildren Enzo Longhi and Elle Uhrman; also many wonderful traveling companions and a host of fellow UCLA sports fans. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 34 years, Lucille Diener, who passed away in 1976 and by his loving second wife, of 30 years, Virginia Diener, who passed away in 2008. Born in New York in 1921, Bernie moved to California in 1946 where he worked as a scientist for Hughes Aircraft until he retired. He, and his second wife, Virginia, traveled the world and made many wonderful friends over many long years. He was an avid UCLA fan and donor and long time bridge player.
Bernie, we miss you, and know that you have started upon another delightful cruise!
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made either to the American Cancer Society or the ASPCA.
