Carl L. Hilterbrand, 96, of McAlester, died Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at McAlester Regional Health Center.

 

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 31 at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Mr. Randy Tidmore officiating. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Service arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service.

 

Carl was born on July 15, 1919 in Purcell to George Robert & Leona Treece Helterbrand.

 

He attended schools in Purcell and graduated from Purcell High School. He then joined the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and was a fighter pilot. He was honorably discharged.

 

He married Georgia Godwin on August 29, 1941 in Louisiana.

 

Carl was a supervisor at the Service Center for Sears in Buena Park, California for 28 years. He and Georgia returned to McAlester in 1980.

 

Carl was a member of the C & Tyler Church of Christ.

 

Survivors include his daughter & son-in-law: Carol & Steve Thrasher of Longtown; son & wife: Carl E. & Gail Hilterbrand of Longtown; grandchildren: Craig Thrasher & Jennifer of Florida; Darren Thrasher & Lelani, Heather Hilterbrand, Molly Hilterbrand, Mike Hilterbrand, all of California; sister: Gloria Hefley Wehrenberg of Tulsa; sister-in-law & brother-in-law: Bonnie & Bill Largent of Orange, California; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, & nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Georgia Opal on January 22, 2015; sisters: Marie Stephens Martin, Naomi Brown, Patricia Boudreau; and brothers: Dewey “Skeeter” Hilterbrand & David Helterbrand.
