Mr. Edward Duane Sproul, 1912-2002

(Aug. 18 1912-May 10, 2002)

Mr. Sproul taught chemistry in the Fullerton School District from 1946-1979 and headed the Math and Science Department at Sunny Hills High School for many years. His life was enriched by numerous talents and interests. He was raised on a ranch in Norwalk and later earned both B.S. and M.A. from Whittier College. In WWII he was commanding officer in a German POW camp and was discharged as an army major. He was the oldest surviving member of an early pioneer family which settled in Norwalk in the 1870s. His last excursion was to the Sproul Museum in Norwalk which commemorates his pioneer forebears.

E. Duane Sproul of Fullerton died May 10, 2002 at age 89. His beloved wife Mildred predeceased him in 1998 after 57 years of marriage. He is survived by his daughter Patricia and her husband Dr. Ronald Peterson of Oregon and by his son. Dr. Gordon Sproul, '62 and his wife Nancy of South Carolina. Grandchildren are Elise, Karen and Lacy Sproul of South Carolina.. He is also survived by his brother Jack and his wife Jeanette of San Gabriel.

Services were held May 16 at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
