Mr. Gordon Herschel Traylor, 94, of Mount Vernon, WA passed away on April 22, 2021. He was born in Detroit, MI on November 23, 1926 to Herschel and Mary (Colbert) Traylor. Gordon was raised by Jean (Colbert) Traylor since he was 16 months old. Gordon married Carolyn Alford in 1974 in Washington, IN.
He grew up in Pike County, Indiana (Otwell, Indiana) and graduated from Otwell High School in 1944. Gordon served in the U.S. Army near the end of WWII in the Philippine Islands. He graduated from Vincennes Junior College, Olivet Nazarene College and Butler University.
Gordon taught high school in Fullerton, California and Vincennes Jasper Junior College in Jasper, Indiana for a total of 45 years.
He is survived by a son, Dr. Guilford Traylor and his wife Anne, and two grandchildren Julia (Paul) and Sam Traylor. Gordon is also survived by nieces Melek and Darya nephew Brian and their families.
