Mr. Jack Theibert, 1922-2016

 

R. John "Jack" Theibert, born 6/8/1922 Sterling, IL; Died 12/3/2016 Encinitas, CA

 

Jack passed away quietly in his sleep December 3rd. Jack was a longtime resident of Fullerton and Orange, CA. He was active in the Fullerton Unitarian Congregation and a leader in the region.

 

Growing up in Illinois and Ohio, he graduated from Western Reserve Academy in 1940. He interrupted college at Amherst to enlist in the Army Air Corps. He graduated as a fighter pilot and flew with the "Flying Tigers" in India and China.

 

He married Nancy Burhans in 1946 and they raised three daughters. Jack and Nancy were married for 67 years.

 

He worked in Aerospace in Ohio and California, later moving to college administration at Chapman University and the Claremont Colleges.

 

Jack was generous with his time in many community projects. He was playful and intelligent and loving in his own way. He was loved by all who knew him and will be missed. He is survived by two daughters and three grandchildren.

Sorry about your dad, Nat! Your folks and mine enjoyed getting together from time to time! Your dad was always fun to be around. I know you and Betsy stay in touch. Once again, sorry for your loss.

Nat. I’m sorry for your loss. Your dad lived a historic life, and men like him helped win World War Two at one of the most critical times. My dad was an Air Corps navigator.
