Mrs. Bethene M. Hubbard of Oklahoma City died Wednesday, June 8, 1983. 


Funeral Service will be at 3 pm Friday in the First Baptist Church of Edmond with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. 


Born April 22, 1920 at Stapleton NE. Bethene was married to Elwood Hubbard July 19, 1940. A retired teacher of 28 years, she led an active life, with interests in her family and working with young people in Baptist Churches in Perkins and Luther OK, and in Fullerton CA. 


A 1941 graduate of Central State University, she had done graduate work at Cal State at Fullerton, UCLA, and OSU. 


Between was very involved in music and was a soloist and sang duets with her husband often. 


Survivors: husband, Elwood of the home; son, John E. of Oklahoma City; daughter, Coye Ann Owens [’64] of Edmond, OK; son-in-law, Jim Owens; and daughter-in-law, Judy Hubbard; grandsons, Nathan and Mitchell Hubbard of OKC, Kyle Owens, and a granddaughter, Tara Owens both of Edmond; brother, Lewis C. Mitchell of Tacoma WA; sisters, Mary Grigsby of Damascus MD, and Joyce Ward of Yucca Valley Ca.

Elwood Hubbard was my shop teacher at Wilshire. Coye was in Concert Choir, Mr. Vaughan, director.
