OBITUARY OF MARY GOODE
Sacrifice is the ability to place the needs of others above your desires and wants as an individual. Particularly with respect to her large family and her many friends, Mary's life was lived with a consistent theme of placing the needs of others well above her personal needs.
Mary Macris Goode received her eternal rest on May 26, 2014 at the Marquis Care center in Boise surrounded by those who loved her, after gracing us with 96 amazing years. She taught us all many unique and individual lessons about life but, most importantly, she taught her family about our heritage and Greek culture, which cannot be allowed to fade in future generations.
A sacrificing sister, a supportive wife, a loving mother, a nurturing grandmother, a patient and wise great grandmother and a loyal friend, Mary touched many lives in a unique and simple manner. She provided calmness to stress, simplicity to complexity and, above all else, she provided a unique and indescribable sense of peace in our chaotic lives. She understood the simple principle that one who gives when she is asked has waited too long.
Mary (aka "Gigi" and "Yaya") understood that giving of one's self in a selfless and consistent manner provides an enduring connection to the recipient. For those that knew Mary, her simple manner, calm approach and sacrificing generosity will provide each of us with an enduring connection to her and, hopefully, to one another. If life is lived with purpose, honor, integrity, compassion and serves to make a difference in the life of others, it is lived well. Mary lived well and her eternal rest and peace has been well earned. Mary, Mom, Yaya and Gigi, we all love you so very much.
In eternal rest, Mary joins her parents, Tom and Elizabeth Galanis; her sisters Ethel, Demetria, Ellen and Margie; and her spouses George Macris and Bill Goode. Included among those Mary leaves behind to carry on her spirit and pass along her wisdom are her sons, Constantine George "Sonny" Macris and Pat Goode; her daughters, Elizabeth "Beba" Pennington and Karana Brown; her sons-in-law, Carl Pennington and John Brown; her daughter-in-law, Erica Goode; ex daughter-in-law, Marilyn Conner; her grandchildren, Robin (and Jack) Wagner, Carl (and Jill) Pennington, Paul (and Wendi) Pennington and Jessica Brown. Among her loving great grandchildren asked to carry her torch into future generations are Nicholas Hensley Wagner, CJ Pennington, Cole Pennington, Katelyn Macris Pennington, Cassandra Mary Pennington, Zachary Wagner, Corrine Pennington, Chris Wagner, Addison Pennington, Paul Michael Pennington and Will Pennington.
The family would like to thank the entire Marquis family for all their love and support. Mary will be placed to rest at Loma Vista Memorial Park in Fullerton, California on June 5, 2014 at 11:30 a.m., with viewing prior from 9:30-11:30. There will be a Celebration of her life to be held in Boise, Idaho on June 22, 2014.
