Mrs. Piirto was a kind, bright woman from the Midwest, who told fascinating stories and anecdotes in class. She told us about seeing Babe Ruth playing baseball, seeing President Franklin D. Roosevelt and more.

I've always remembered her with affection. Others in that classroom were Nancy Rowe-Street, Cathy (Cat) Cogan-Hawkins, Cynthia Morris, Penny Kidwell-Morrison, Jim Benning, Susan Ryel, and Lindee Hammond Owen, all SHHS '67; as well as Gayle Keefer, Linda Haight-Williams, and Bryant Welles, FUHS 1967.
