As a latchkey key from South Fullerton I pedaled my poison-green one-speed bike across the tracks on weekends to push-mow luscious lawns and machete bramble brush high on the Golden Hills of the SHHS glitterati. My wage was two bucks an acre, though I once mowed a pal's parents' sprawling greensward in exchange for a scratchy 45-rpm record of Janie Grant's "Triangle."

I was a typist at what was then called the Anaheim Fullerton Municipal Court. I worked transporting patients to radiology and as a secretary for the radiologists at what was then the Martin Luther Hospital in Anaheim.
