Randall Craig Condict, 60, of Costa Mesa, California passed away August 1, 2009.
He was born the night of October 31, 1948 in Long Beach, California after calling his mother away from a Halloween Party.
The third of seven sons of Winfield and Dorothy Condict, Randy was raised in Fullerton and served in the Huntington Beach Marine Safety Department and the Huntington Beach Fire Department where he worked as a fireman and paramedic.
Randy was a gifted artist. For several years he worked in boatyards of Long Beach, Newport Beach and Costa Mesa as a yacht restoration specialist bringing the skill of an old world artisan to a disappearing profession.
He was also an adventurer and athlete. He participated in rock climbing, ice climbing and sailing. He loved the ocean and the desert, especially Panamint Valley. Among his exploits, in 1985 he traversed the Sahara from Casa Blanca to Dakar.
Randy was a humble, sincere, hilarious, selfless, tolerant, merciful, kind, loving, remarkable human being – in short, he had a certain something that we can never forget and will always love. He treated everyone with transcendent kindness and he could lighten up the most solemn moment with the perfect comment.
Randy is survived by his soul-mate Jackie Wright, his daughter Brook Sutton and her husband Bjorn, his daughter Jennifer Burbey and her husband Geoff, three grandchildren, Siena, Sam and Pearl, nephews Graham, Morgan and Clark, nieces Lindsay, Melissa, Katie, Nicole and Kelly, five brothers and his sister, Sallie.
He is preceded in death by his beloved brother Greg. Memorial Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday Morning, August 8th at Huntington City Beach at the berm line by Lifeguard Tower 11. Enter the city beach parking lot at PCH and Huntington Street.
