Announcing the passing of Coronado resident Robert “Bobby” Stiles on August 1, 2022.
Marion (Mims) and her husband Lemoyne B. “Lee” Stiles, who passed on February 1, 2000 together with their son Robert moved to Coronado in 1977 where they resided for the rest of their lives.
Mims was one of the first flight attendants on American Airlines from the end of World War II until 1948. Mims and Lee were married in 1947. They are survived by their children Marilee Stiles Stern, Jacqueline Stiles McAulay, and Scott Stiles, and leave behind four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Up until his death Robert attended the Starlight Auxiliary Program, now the Sol and Ruth Gerber Family Center in Chula Vista, part of the ARC of San Diego.
They loved Coronado and most of all, the extraordinary neighbors who added so much to their lives on J Avenue. When his father was alive Bobby could be seen riding his bike all around the Island with him. In the later years Mims and Bobby had many places they loved to go every day including Bank of America, Burger King, McDonald’s and the Base. Mims would always make sure to give special tips to all the people who served her with her hopes that she could be adding to their day and possibly making their lives better. She was always so thankful for the kindness they showed her and her beloved son.
All Mr. and Mrs. Stiles and Bobby are now buried together at the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery on Point Loma in San Diego
